Training Options
Board-and-Train
During our board-and-train program, your dog boards at our training facility for two weeks. Trainers work with your dog at least twice a day while trained kennel staff care for and facilitate your dog's social interactions in play groups with other dogs. At the end of your dog's stay, your trainer will create a personalized DVD for you and your dog for review, reference, and a lifetime of learning.
During the two weeks, we build a solid foundation of basic obedience skills such as:
- Listening: Teaching your dog to listen to you
- Heel, sit, down, stay, come, and watch
- Manners: In particular, polite greeting behaviors (not jumping)
- Socialization: Supervised interaction with play day and other boarding dogs'
When your dog is ready, we take him or her on field trips to the park or hike and bike trail and start building on what they've learned.
After the two weeks, it's your turn to learn through several private sessions. These sessions are conducted at your home, at the park, or anywhere you choose.
$1200-Includes the play day evaluation, boarding fees, playtime, training, your personalized DVD, and four private follow-up sessions. (Payment options are available.)
Board-and-Train Q & A
Puppy Consultations
Start your puppy off on the right paw! Puppy consultations are for pups five months old and younger and provide an in-home assessment of you and your dog’s relationship.
This one-hour visit addresses:
- House-breaking
- Socialization
- Common issues: jumping, nipping, chewing
- Starting basic obedience commands: name, sit, down, recall
A book, Puppy Primer, and a free day of daycare are included. $75
Private Consultations
Private training sessions are a good alternative to the board-and-train for:
- Dogs who would be more comfortable training at home
- Owners who prefer to be more involved in laying a good behavioral foundation
These one-hour sessions can be held anywhere, depending on your dog’s level of obedience and focus, and your goals.
We cover such basics as:
- Listening skills: Teaching your dog to listen to you
- Basic obedience: Heel, sit, down, stay, come, and watch
- Manners: In particular, polite greeting behaviors (not jumping)
- Common behavior issues: chewing, digging, barking
$120/ hour. Package discounts available. (Extra charges may apply outside of the Austin Metro area.)
Private Behavior Consultations
Private behavior consultations are for dogs and owners who need help with serious behavior issues such as:
- Separation anxiety
- Fear of people
- Fear of dogs
- Dog/dog aggression
At the first session, the trainer will get an in depth history of the issue, and we will create a personalized plan to help you help your dog.
These problems take time to work through. Because of this we are committed to follow-up and require multiple sessions. One session is simply not enough to turn these issues around.
