Art Raffle Benefit for Esme Barrera
January 13, 2012, Events, Kathleen Nobbe | Comments (0)

This Saturday, January 14th, an art raffle will be held in the Taurus Woodrow warehouse to benefit the family of Esme Barrera, who was killed in her West Campus home early New Year's Day.
Jordan Smith at the Austin Chronicle has written a great piece called "Excited About Life" that helps to articulate just how amazing Esme was, and how heartbroken her family, friends, and our community are to have lost her.
The art raffle Saturday will help raise funds for Esme's family. Pieces have been donated from 20 Austin artists; a $10 donation gets you 2 raffle tickets (additional tickets may be purchased). Snacks have been generously donated by Wheatsville Co-Op, beer from Black Star Co-Op, and wine from William and Melanie McLeroy. Pieces will be raffled off at the end of the night, and you need not be present to win. This is a kid-friendly event, but please leave pups at home.
Most importantly, this event is a chance to celebrate Esme's life, even if you never met her. Getting excited, being involved, and loving life was what Esme was all about.
